Obituary of Hugh Smith

Mr. Hugh Smith age 87 of Florence, Alabama (formerly of) Fyffe passed away Monday, November 24, 2008 in Florence.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm - Wednesday, November 26, 2008 from the Greenview Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Chris Underwood officiating. Burial will follow in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.
Survivors-(wife of 58 years) Betty Gilbert Smith, (nephews) Jerry & Susie Coots, Mike & Ann Gilbert (aunt) Lola Ayers.
Mr. Smith was a graduate of Fyffe High School and Auburn University, He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Navy for 6 years on the Battleship USS Colorado. He and his wife were the owners and founder of Southland Merchandising Company in Florence, which they founded in 1950.
He was preceded in death by his (mother) Marie Smith, and (4 infant children) Travis, Samuel, Katheryn, and Anita Faye Smith.
