Obituary of Jessie Clinton Bramlett

Jessie Clinton "Billy" Bramlett passed away peacefully January 7th at his residence in Valley Head, Alabama. He was born in Fort Payne, AL on July 22, 1934, the same day that John Dillinger was sent to his reward. He was the youngest of three children born to Jess Andrew Bramlett and Cordia (Parker) Bramlett. 

 
Jess joined the US Army at the age of 17 and served in Europe during the Korean Conflict after which he was honorably discharged. 
 
In 1956 Jess was married to the love of his life, Bonnie Helms. They were married for 61 years during which they were blessed with four sons. They spent their early years near family in Alabama, Florida and Oregon before moving to the warmer climes of Dallas,Texas in 1964. After retiring from a career that included working in an Oregon lumber mill, the Alabama highway department and finally as a mechanic, the family moved back home to Valley Head Alabama in 1993.  
 
He loved football, particularly his Alabama Crimson Tide and anyone who knew Jess can believe that he was looking down on and had a hand in Bama's latest national championship on January 8th.
 
Jess is survived by his wife Bonnie of Valley Head, AL. 
 
He is also survived by a sister, Ina Mae Looney of Coquille, OR. His sons and their families also survive him- Clinton LaBron and Sara Bramlett of New London, CT. Marvin and Sabina Bramlett of Dallas, Texas. Kenneth and Judy Bramlett of Irving, Texas and Micah Bramlett of Carrollton, Texas. In addition Jess is survived by his granddaughters Charissa and Justin Stewart of Denton, TX, Jessica and Davis Bell of Bedford, Tx, Ryan Bramlett of New London, CT, Madeline Bramlett and Samantha Bramlett of Dallas, TX. He has three great-granddaughters- Lily Bell and Margret Bell of Bedford, TX and Eleanor Stewart of Denton, TX.
 
Jess was predeceased by his parents, Jess and Cordia Bramlett and his sister Estelle Jones.
 
A private ceremony to celebrate Jess's life will be held at a later date. 
 
In lieu of flowers donations made be made "In Honor/ Memory of" Jess Bramlett to the Wounded Warrior Project at woundedwarriorproject.org.
