Being the youngest grandchild of Grandmother Allen afforded me the additional privilege of being treated like a grandchild by my aunts and uncles. I know Uncle Charles loved many and took time to make each member of the Allen family feel special. From my persective as a child, I always felt like he loved me as much as anyone. Some may describe him as a simple, maybe even gruff, but he loved children. I think this must have been something that rubbed off on him from his father. By extension, he sure gave me a glimpse of the Grandaddy Allen.
I will cherish the adventures he gave me as a kid. I will remember eating countless watermelons, riding the tractor, and even being introduced to poke salad picking. I am grateful most of all to know that Uncle Charles is in Heaven today. He spent Mother’s Day with Grandmother Allen. What a blessing to be a part of a family of faith, and what joy we can share to know we will all be reunited again one day.
I am praying for our family as we wait just a little longer.
