Mr. Jimmy Ray Black, age 66, of Whitaker Road, Grant, AL passed away peacefully at his home on the 18th day of May 2020.
Jimmy was born in Grant, AL to Raymond and Martha (Smith) Black. He was raised in the Tiftonia area near Chattanooga, TN. He was a graduate of Kirkman Technical High School, class of 1971. After graduation he was employed by DuPont, Inc. in Chattanooga, TN. He married Belva Ashley in March of 1976. They moved to the Grant, AL area in 1977. He was employed by PPG Industries until his retirement after 36 years of service.
He was a faithful member of Grassy Mountain Holiness church. He served as the treasurer of the church for 26 years.
Jimmy had a very outgoing personality of which countless friends and acquaintances will have many wonderful memories. He had a love for animals especially horses. He loved driving his tractor and helping his neighbors. He was a loving husband, dad, and grandpa.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Belva Ashley Black; son, Adrian (Jennifer) Black; granddaughter, Breanna Black; grandson, Landon Black; mother, Martha Black; brother, David (Teresa) Black; sister Reba (Mike) Okesky; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Raymond Black and infant brother Billy Raymond Black.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 20,2020 from 1pm until 9pm at Grassy Mountain Holiness Church. Funeral service will be private, with interment following at Panquin Cemetery, Grant, AL
