Mr. Rhodney V. Satterfield, 95, of Dawson passed away at his home Monday, March 1, 2021, with his family present.
Private Family visitation 9-1 Wednesday at W.T. Wilson Funeral Chapel.
Public Graveside services at 2pm Wednesday, March 3, 2021 from the Liberty FCM Cemetery in McEstes. Bros. Ricky Smith, Deon Black, and Todd Jacobs will officiate.
He was born May 1, 1925, to Rev. Earnest and Myrtle Mitchell Satterfield. He married his sweetheart Mary Ruth Ellis on January 23, 1944. He graduated from DeKalb County High School, and also earned a certificate of accounting there. Later he attended Barber School and barbered in Etowah county, then in DeKalb County for decades before retiring. In that time he made an innumerable amount of friends.
He served in The United States Army in World War II, General Patton's Company F 318th Infantry 80th Division in the central Europe Rhineland Campaign. He also served in The Big Red One "The Bulge". He was a private first class, and received medals during his tour. He loved his country very much.
He was an active member of Liberty FCM Church, serving as Sunday School teacher and church leader for many years. He was a mentor to many, and an inspiration to his family.

Daughters: Sandra (George) Wagner, Kathy (Terry) Lassetter, Rhonda (John) Bean
Sons: Lane (Deborah) Satterfield, Terry (Wilma) Satterfield
10 Grandchildren: Kevin, Khara, Kristi, Brooke, Jamie, Amber, Britney, Bekka, Chase and Tiffany.
22 Great grandchildren: Brett, Dyllan, Asher, Ellis, Jake, Zeke, Ely, Adam, Logan, Levi, Maci, Drake, Bryleigh, Tristyn, Ryleigh, Natalie, Ivy, Jhett, Damien, Aloria, Oliver and Piper
A host of nieces, nephews and friends. And a special pen pal: Reagan Outlaw.
Mr. Satterfield was preceded in death by his loving wife Mary Ruth Ellis Satterfield; parents Rev. Earnest and Myrtle Satterfield; Sisters Audrey Gilbert, Shirley Hughes and Rachel McKelvey; Brother Jimmy Satterfield; Grandson Philip Brandon Lassetter; Great granddaughter Josie Ann Elise Campbell, Daughter-in-law Terecia Satterfield
