Obituary of Raymond Eugene Higgins

Mr. Raymond Eugene Higgins, age 65, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Thursday morning, August 26, 2021 at the local hospital. Raymond was born June 8, 1956 in Chicago, Illinois. He worked at Shaw Industries for over twenty three years and was the owner of Precision Seamless Guttering. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond R. “Ray” Higgins and his brother, Billy Ray Higgins. Raymond loved to read. He was a good husband, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and son. He loved and cared for his family deeply. He was a mentor to his family and leaves a great legacy for them to follow. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Deanna “Dee Dee” Higgins of the residence; mother, Jewel B. Croft Higgins of Ft. Payne, AL; sons and daughter-in-law, Christopher Higgins and Nathan Higgins both of Eton, GA, Daniel and Pam Harness, Christopher Harness all of Chatsworth, GA; grandchildren, Jennifer and Josh Stone and Jamie Harness; great-grandchildren, Max Pacheco and Dani Stone; sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Gene Christopher of Ft. Payne, AL; several nieces and nephews. Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Raymond Eugene Higgins will be held Monday, August 30, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. (CST) at W.T. Wilson Chapel (2226 Shiloh Cir., Rainsville, AL, 35986) with his nephew, Shawn Goad officiating. He will be laid to rest at Pine Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery in Ft. Payne, AL, with Newman Yates, Josh Stone, Ethan Lederer, Eric Goad, Jacob Goad and Tanner Newton honored to serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening and after 12:00 p.m. Noon Monday at W.T. Wilson Chapel until the service hour.
