Obituary of Bill Vernon Moore

Reverend Bill Vernon Moore, June 23, 1938 – February 2, 2022 Bill Vernon Moore, known as a one-woman man, fantastic father of four, Papaw nine times over, and great grandfather of 3 and more on the way, graduated from this life to his heavenly reward Wednesday, February 2, 2022. Bill had many titles, and he wore each equally well. Husband, daddy, papaw, preacher, friend, boss, and champion to many. It didn’t matter what title you knew him by, it just mattered to him that you were in his life. He was known as a man of compassion, with a heart to help those less fortunate than himself. He tried to treat everyone in a kind, loving and gentle godly manner. He possessed an unmatched quick wit and humor that kept everyone laughing. He enjoyed finding and cooking unusual recipes that everyone else was scared to taste; he was a walking library of historic knowledge, a great orator of the word of God, and a wonderful storyteller. He was an artist, loved woodworking, and could draw beautiful pictures. He loved to try his hand at farming, and at different times, raised goats, chickens, and pigs. Bill Moore was born and raised in Trumann, Arkansas. At the age of seventeen, he left home to proudly serve his country by joining the air force. While in the air force he worked his way up the chain of command to top-secret security clearance. He inspected and loaded missiles into fighter aircraft. He served from 1955 – 1959. He authored a book incorporating all his children and grandchildren into the story intermingled with historic facts called the “Winds of Texas”. He was so proud of each of his children and grandchildren, always encouraging them to “leave their mark” on the world in a positive way. Always interested in anything they are involved in and all their accomplishments. He was all these things in life, but he had two goals in his life that were most important to him. The first, his relationship with his God. His goal was to stand before his savior and hear the words “Well done my good and faithful servant … enter into the joy of the Lord.” After the passing of his beloved wife, he looked forward to the crossing-over journey to be with her again. Today, there is rejoicing in heaven because he has obtained both goals. He was preceded in death by his mother, Annie Belle Moore, father, George Washington Moore, his brother, Sidney Wilburn Moore, half-brother, Pete Moore, granddaughter, Amber Moore, grandson Benjamin Moore, grandson, Nathan Travis Holley, and his beloved wife, Shelby Jean (Smith) Moore. He is survived by his children, Kimberly Darlene Bevill, Timothy Michael Moore (Annette), Lisa Lynn Williams (Voyce), Brenda Kaye Spell (Randy), Grandchildren, Jason Harrison (Courtney), Chad Harrison (Megan), Nick Harrison (Lacy), Madison Bevill, Mandi Murphy (Chris), Hunter Holley, David Spell (Brandy), Jonathan Spell (Leah), Andrew Moore, great grandchildren, Cameron Murphy, Caleb Murphy and Levi Holley, numerous nieces and nephews, and friends. Funeral services are set for 1pm Monday, February 7, 2022 from the W.T. Wilson Funeral Chapel in Rainsville, Al. Burial will be in Kirk Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until service time at the funeral home.
