Obituary of Willam Howard Gilbert

Mr. William Howard Gilbert age 81, of Gadsden passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2022. Funeral services are set for 2pm Wednesday, July 13, 2022 from the W.T. Wilson Funeral Chapel with Bros. Max Roden and Noah Medders officiating. Burial will be in Kelly’s Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8pm Tuesday at East Gadsden Baptist Church, and from 12noon until service time Wednesday at W.T. Wilson Funeral Chapel. He is survived by his wife, Sue Gilbert; daughters, Teresa (Phillip) Swindall, Dana Gilbert and Amy LaCount; sister, Dorothy Simpson; grandchildren, Kio (Matt) Burrell, and Tansley (Eric) LaCount; great-grandchildren, Matthias, Emory, Mattox, Kaylin, and Naomi. He was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Emaline Gilbert; and sister, Rebecca Robertson. Mr. Gilbert accepted Christ at a early age and was a member of East Gadsden Baptist for over 40 years where he served as a greeter and head of the ushers for many years. He was a 1959 graduate of Geraldine High School, and retired from Alabama Power company as a mechanic.
