Johnny Darril Brown, age 76, of Rainsville, Alabama, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, August 20, 2023. Funeral services are set for 4pm Tuesday, August 22, 2022 from the W.T. Wilson Funeral Chapel with Bros. Brent Michaels, Shirley Byrum, Orin Whitley, and Totchie McClain officiating. Burial will be in Kirk Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4 until 8 pm Monday and from 10 am until service time Tuesday at the funeral home. Johnny was born on June 11, 1947 in Fyffe, Alabama, to the late Lother Vernon & Idell Thomas Brown. On July 18, 1964, he married the love of his life, Nellie Faye Byrum Brown, and was blessed with 44 years of marriage. His two sons and their wives, Alan & Karen Brown and Eddie & Debbie Brown are left to carry on their parent’s legacy of a loving and close family. PawPaw Johnny found a new pride and joy when his grandchildren were born. PawPaw’s loving grandchildren, Jarad & Tonya Brown, Robin & Caleb Burns, Latasha & Chad Roden, Nicholas Brown, and Heath Brown loved spending time with him and further blessed him with great grandchildren. Granny then began calling him PopPop, and as the years have gone on, Whitney Brown, Bentlee & Brayleigh Burns, Tristan Dyar, Isabella and Isaiah Roden have continued to affectionately call him PopPop and he would light up every time he heard his name! His great grandchildren don’t remember PopPop as PawPaw before his stroke 21 years ago, but they have been involved in his caretaking and helping even with the little things, and he loved them all so much! Johnny is also survived by his sister, Patricia & Randy Stewart; brothers, Jerry & Emma Brown, Bobby & Jan Brown, and Barry & Lisa Brown, brother-in-law, Eugene Byrum, a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and church members. He was a member of Ider Holiness Church. In addition to his parents, LV & Idell Brown, Johnny was proceeded in death by his wife, Nellie Brown and siblings, Linda Byrum, RV & Joyce Brown, and James & Ann Brown Johnny was an over the road truck driver for years and loved to travel and see the country. On July 11, 2010, Johnny received the gift of the Holy Ghost at Old Sardis Holiness Church and made preparations to meet the Lord. He showed love to everyone and made many friends along the way at church and at the community center. His continued zeal to work for the Lord and show love for everyone, despite his difficulties, is a true inspiration to all who knew him. The family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Enhabit Hospice!! The love and attention shown to our PopPop never went unnoticed and we are so thankful to have had you all by our side.
