Harold Mountain, Sr. of Sylvania, AL., born March 29, 1947 passed away on October 20, 2023 surrounded by his loved ones.
Harold was born in Hodges, AL to WW and Molly Mountain. He retired in November 1998 from the US Navy as a Senior Chief after serving 26 years. Upon returning home, he worked at the Sara Lee Bakery for several years, then decided to travel again and became an over the road truck driver for US Express. He finally retired to become a “professional” golfer. Besides golf, he enjoyed spending time with family, and rooting for the Alabama Crimson Tide football in the fall. His faith in the Lord was demonstrated by serving as a deacon at New Bethel Baptist Church in Powell.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Geraldine Mountain, Judy Wilbanks and Mary (Mack) Reed.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years Annette; sons Harold Jr. (Rachel) Mountain and Charles (Charity) Mountain; grandchildren Lucas, Lydia, Andrew & Amelia Mountain, Justin, Jessica, Cody, Venna & Chase Thompson; great-grandchildren Isabelle Mountain, Kairi Thompson and Miley Thompson; siblings Wanda (Cecil) Reed, Barbara (Ronald) Burns, Junior (Tammy) Mountain, Helen (Brian) Sawyer, Ricky Mountain, Janice (Larry) Yancey, Gail Mountain, Tim (Deb Saint) Mountain, Sharon Culpepper, Anita Mountain, Linda (Tim) Wilbanks, and numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.
Visitation: Tuesday, October 24, 2023 from 5-8 pm at WT Wilson Funeral Chapel, 2226 Main Street Shiloh, Rainsville. Visitation will continue Wednesday, October 25, 2023 until the start of the service.
Funeral: Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at 1 pm, with Pastor Clifford Millican officiating. Graveside Service with military honors will follow at New Bethel Cemetery, Powell, AL.
